Hey, this is Meridith Elliott Powell. And this week I want to talk to you about probably one of the most important questions in leadership. Every single leader needs to ask themselves. In fact, if you’re in sales, you need to ask yourself, if you’re a parent, you need to ask yourself this question you need to ask yourself, do you want to be right, or do you want to be effective? See, far too often we’re right. I mean, maybe it’s the right idea. Maybe it’s the right answer to the question. Maybe it’s the right strategy. But the point is, nobody’s following you. Nobody’s bought in. It isn’t what you do in leadership as much It is how you do it. So you need to ask yourself, are you right or are you effective? Now ultimately, you want to be both correct. But if you’re right and nobody’s following you, you’re not effective. And if you’re not effective, you are not leading. So this year, ask yourself, are you right or are you effective? And if you want to be effective, you need people to be following you. And that is on you. What do you need to do to create, buy-in, to create engagement, to get people to feel like they’re working with you rather than for you. So what are you waiting for? Ask yourself, are you right or are you effective? Be both. And you’re going to turn all of this uncertainty into a major competitive advantage.
