Hey, this is Meridith Elliott Powell. And this week I want to talk to you about the Great Resignation. I know we are all tired of talking about the Great resignation, but this is a problem you can’t ignore. I mean, in November, more than 4.5 million people left their jobs. And the only thing standing in the way of you really excelling and achieving everything you want to achieve in your organization next year. The only thing really standing in the way is people. Do you have the right team around you? So you can look at the Great Resignation as one of the biggest problems facing business today. Or you can see it as the greatest opportunity because you have to understand that there are 4.5 million people that left their jobs. They’re looking for something. They’re just saying, I don’t want to work somewhere where I don’t feel like I’m making a difference, where I’m not listened to, where I’m not heard, where I don’t feel that I have a future. So let me ask you, as a leader, what are you doing to focus on culture? What are you doing to create an environment where those people who are looking for a great opportunity are looking to come? This is a time when you can no longer outsource leadership, outsource talent, attraction, outsource retention to the HR Department, or only deal with it when you lose an employee. Focus every day on creating a great work environment and those best and brightest are actually going to beat a path to your door. Your opportunity in today’s marketplace is to start to think of the Great Resignation as the great opportunity.
