And let me tell you how it started. I think this is going to be familiar to you. I had an amazing conversation with a prospect. They were ready to buy. They just needed to check a few things, really check on the budget. But they were going to call me back and sign on the dotted line. And then the deal went dark. Dark. No matter the emails I sent, no matter the phone calls I made, no response at all. And then, I went to my secret formula. my “70-30” split. They told me their life had become really busy. Things were crazy at work, at home, even more so. And working with me just fell to the bottom of their to-do list. But in fact, everybody was reaching out to them saying: “Hello! Are you out there?” “What’s going on?” Versus the follow-up that I was doing, My prospect said, Meredith, it was easy with you. You never put pressure on me. You never felt like it was wrong that I wasn’t responding back. And he said: “I chose to follow up with you because it was easy.” “It was comfortable.” And I didn’t feel like I had to explain all the reasons I had not been responding. There is a strategy with follow-up. There is an art to following up. And you need to understand that the sale happens in the follow-up. But it isn’t as much about what you do.
