Hey, this is Meridith Elliot Powell, And today I want to talk about something we don’t typically discuss when it comes to sales, but it can have a powerful impact on your sales experience and your sales results. I want to talk about giving thanks. Now, it’s kind of appropriate because this week it is Thanksgiving here in the United States, and it’s my favorite holiday of the year because we don’t throw big parties and we don’t buy presents for everybody. We just take a day, share a meal with family and friends, and we give thanks. We give thanks for the things that we’re grateful for in our life. But have you ever thought about bringing that into the sales proc process? You know, the research shows that the more thankful and grateful you are, it improves your sales experience as a salesperson, it improves the experience of the customer. It actually builds resilience and momentum, and, oh, yeah! It’ll even get you better results. So here’s a couple of ways that you should be giving thanks in the sales process. Number one: Give thanks for your customers. Take time every morning, no more than a minute. And just think about the customers that bring a smile to your face. Maybe you’ll even jot one or two that you need to reach out to, Just say thank you. I appreciate and value the relationship you have with me and your company. Next, be thankful for your team. You know, no salesperson, no business owner. We don’t do this on our own. We can’t deliver to our customers without the people around us. So think about who makes your job easier, more successful, and gives you the ability to do what you love to do and give thanks for them. And last, but not least, give thanks to yourself. Listen, it is hard to sell to keep it going every day takes a lot of resilience. But if you take a moment and think about the things that you do well, the gusto and grit you give it every day. You’re going to start your day with an attitude of gratefulness, and that is going to bring you better results. So whether you celebrate Thanksgiving or not, bring thankfulness and gratefulness into the sales process, you’ll be glad you did. And together we’ll turn all of this uncertainty into your greatest compassion, additive advantage. I’ll see you next week.
